The subtext of both the Gang of 26 and the outed-from-Microsoft
letters, as well as today's Wall Street press conference, is that the
economy of the United States benefits *more* by forcing businesses to
throw out existing software and to buy more computer hardware than it
does by allowing those businesses to continue to use their existing
hardware and software productively to accomplish each business's
primary mission.
