Those scripts don't necessarily mean something evil is lurking.
What version the browser is determines what it will support. There's
no point trying to serve up javascript or java applets to a browser
that can't support it. I'd admit the author's wording doesn't help,
but it may just be a way of knowing what kind page can be served up.
