Re: [Fwd: Grassroots Geeks on Stipends? or Money for Nothing?]
Umn, but the subtle differences between the liberitarians [sp], the free
marketeers, and conservatives has come up on this list before and you were
involved. It was a while back... (more than 1720 messages ago) and before my
last HD crash. Anyway, that's not important.
And I, as I'm sure Mitch does too, remember your presence on this list way way
way back in November or December. That's not important either. And I do doubt
that you're here to discuss objectivism - yuck. Actually I've found many of
the links you've posted to be useful....
Mitch was only repeating what Ayn Rand herself had said.
Are liberitarians conservatives? Are we (umn, the gang I guess) crackheads of
the left? Whatever, fine I'll be a crackhead - these are all just a bunch of
labels. Like P.A. said.
I wouldn't use a quote of Ayn Rands, she's just spewing her elitist attitude
anyway.
Strangely enough all of this started over a point you agreed with - Ayn Rand
is a little extreme - The point of contention is the question of how much
overlap is there between objectionists (Ayn Rand) and libertarians. See IMHO
there are a great number of very important overlappings between the two:
1) Both are fiercely "individualistic
2) Both despise "centralized" control
(short list, I didn't have time)
To be honest, I don't know where they differentiate. Perhaps some constructive
work might be in discussing those differences. Why is this important to the
discussion of Microsoft? Well I guess it does have to do with the feelings as
to "how much" regulation there should be.
