Aloha kakahiaka [good morning] AM-infomaniacs!
Earlier I wrote to encourage you all to fill out a survey at Scripting
news, run by Dave Winer.

Here's the results so far:

Software Survey
Here's another survey for Scripting News readers.
With all the talk about free software, I was wondering which do you
consider the most important factor in deciding to use a software product.
I just put this list together off the top of my head. It must be
frustrating to pick a single factor, but I'm more interested in the
aggregate than in a profile of individual people.
low price (28)
high price (2)
free source code available (33)
runs on a specific operating system/platform (40)
better performance relative to other similar products (63)
features you can't get anywhere else (231)
quality of support (10)
size of the company selling the product (1)
lots of other people use the product successfully (31)
it comes from a company or individual
who you want to support (18)
easy to learn, use or install (58)
it was already installed on the computer (1)
I have no say in what software I use, it's someone
else's choice (1)
elegance, depth, inherent power (83)

This survey is still active [I checked..after I voted and re-posted the
form data, my vote appeared in the totals]
Right now I don't see a lot of votes for either
free source code available (33) [where's the
Linux/freeware/opensource guys?!]
runs on a specific operating system/platform (40) [where's
the
Mac community?]
So if you're interested in convincing Dave Winer and his readers that
there's more to life than he can see from his little Windows ..oops..bite
my tongue..I mean window ;-)
[I mean you may be asking "Who cares what this Bozo and his pals think?]
..you may care to cast your vote..
Oh..and tell your Mac addicted and/or Linux loving buddies to vote too.
