Let's face it. Most computer users are consumers which means they will use
and are going to continue to use commercial software [over the course of
the next few years, at any rate.] To think otherwise is to be seriously
deluding yourself, IMHO.

Therefore, what will benefit the consumer is to break the stranglehold that
Microsoft has on the *business* of selling consumer software, and thwart
Microsoft's move to control the internet. This involves promoting *all*
aspects of the free software community, Linux, BSD, whatever..as well as
the development of commercial [non-Microsoft] software ...ANYTHING that is
an alternative to Microsoft!

I think the CPT should be promoting a *dialogue* between all the parties
mentioned and perhaps others not yet mentioned [I mean- heck - even
Microsoft is invited to the table..though they choose not to participate]
and not endorsing any ONE group or approach at this point. After all ..the
name of the conference is "Remedies"..not THE Remedy."
