But I bet you there are some commonalities..no? What are they? And why
would this model be a better model than the one where we have lots of
players with closed standards which all are forced to co-operate because
*nobody* has a monopoly?

The question is ..how?

If we can be more clear about exactly which "best of all possible worlds"
we are proposing, and the means to get there, I think it would be
beneficial to all. I'm pretty clear about Mitch's "best of all possible
worlds", but I'd like to know more about yours, because other than the "Ma
Bell model"..I don't have much of a way to visualize this.
