Re: uninstallation

The tighter linkage between hardware and software on the Macintosh is not
the reason why application removal is uncomplicated on the Mac. These
operations are relatively easy to perform because they were _designed_ to
be easy. This is strictly an OS issue, so far as I can tell.
Sorry to be such a humbug on this question, but we _do_ have an example
of how a commercial OS can make basic maintenance tasks non-arcane. Why
leave it aside?
-----------------------------
We leave it aside because everything about the Mac isn't perfect, including as
an example of how we can solve the quagmire of a monopolistic environment we're
in right now, except to patronize a different monopoly. While it might bail us
out in the short run, it will only leave us sinking again later. (I just saw
Titanic)
As most of us feel on this list, I think the issue should be - and I've said
this before - how can users make it clear that what they demand is an open
standards OS with good documentation, a reasonable interface, and quality
commercial software companies to back it up?
