This is a flaming arrow of truth. McSoft is threatened by HTTP and pure
HTML, a la Apache and WWW Consortium specs. Apache HTTP has been missing
from the debate even though it is ubiquitous (today). Intel's idea of
enhancements could be the start of a similar campaign. Heather may be
right- a balkanized public domain Internet and a commercial web may
emerge. Clone Andy Grove, Bill Gates and John Malone into a hybrid, and
the old models of open standards would gather dust; while user groups,
small businesses and plain old humans continue to use the old standards.
