Re: DOJ, Microsoft settle (like dust)
Microsoft has painted themselves into a corner. When the European Union
refused to back down, when the Japanese raided McSoft like any common
fraud investigation, and when it became apparent the DOJ was committed
for the long haul..... then Bill Gates and company realized that there
was some serious opposition to faulty code and business practices.
This amounts to another plea bargain, (de facto admission of guilt or
culpability) and another serious yellow light for the road ahead.
None of these investigations has gone cold. Now there is sufficient
proof of tampering with code and other anticompetitive practices to
bring further disclosures in the months ahead.
I think some class action actions with the state AGs may be the best
venue for keeping the consumer pressures on the corporate bottom line.
