Lorton Workshop - Med-Tech Privacy Implementation
Count me in, too, for Lew Lorton's workshop. As for my wish list, I'd like
to hear a presentation by a medical network/database administrator,
preferably, an in-house medical information specialist who is capable of
describing in plain English the practical, day-to-day procedures and
protocols for management of medical information systems. Topics I'd like
to hear addressed include access and denial of access issues; audit trail
tracking; encryption standards and vulnerabilities; network security risks
(from insiders and hackers); and commensurate costs of providing various
levels of security/confidentiality.
One caveat, though -- all necessary systems design and tech talk should
strive to be in plain English and be practice-based, not too theoretical.
So that we can make the most use of time, perhaps tech workshop handouts
can be circulated in advance to attendees, so that valuable conference time
can be used for dialogue and exchange, assuming we come to the conference
with basic familiarity with tech concepts that will be discussed.
That's my wish list on short notice.
