Hi Bill -
I realize this doesn't appeal to your belief in the ultimate benevolent
motivations of all manufacturers, but given the hig amount of evidence of
corporations buying and suppressing competition, suppressing evidence of
harm of their products (and those who would say so, inside and out), using
government and money to suppress honest conversation, etc., perhaps a more
appropriate quote would be, "If it walks like a duck, talks like a duck,
.."
I'm not saying there were untoward objectives in Dow's decision - but given
their past actions, I don't consider it unreasonable to speculate that they
may be among the reasons for their actions. They do have a stake in the
results tests might find. Or else, why won't they free up someone else to
utilize this technology...? (Making it reasonably available to another
company, rather than just sitting on the technology, would be the best
counter evidence of all to the negative speculation.)
Best regards -
