Hi,
I have been receiving a lot of requests for copies of a study called
"Frontiers in Pollution Prevention" reported by the Tellus Institute, in
their recent newsletter "Environmental Perspectives". This project was
recently conducted for the State of Michigan Great Lakes Protection Fund
(GLPF). The study results in recommendations for pollution prevention
research priorities to be funded by the state GLPF over the next few years.
Focus groups consisting of members of small and large businesses,
environmental groups, foundations, academia, and regulatory and
non-regulatory government groups were convened to identify the research
needs. The Frontiers study actually consists of 3 project activities which
are provided in the report and can also be read as stand-alone documents.
The first is a quick primer of the state-of-the-art pollution prevention
management tools and regulatory innovations. The second document provides a
valuable summary of the focus group discussions, including the various
points of views and perspectives and priorities of the different
constituents. The third document identifies opportunities for pollution
prevention projects in the following areas: facility planning, decision
support tools, organizational behavior and change, innovative regulatory
instruments, economic incentives and progress measurement. The GLPF is now
proceding to the next stage, by issuing an RFP for work to be conducted in
theses areas.
