"What Songbirds Owe To Rachel Carson [Letters]." Wall Street
          Journal, 5 December 96, A21.
Jim Davidson of Woodbury, Minn. writes in response to the
Nov. 18 article "...While Biting the Hand That Feeds Us,"
defending Rachel Carson's "Silent Spring" as being the start
of a "war against excessive use of DDT" and not "a war
against `modern agriculture.'" He concludes: "For the
Committee of a Constructive Tomorrow to imply that American
songbirds owe their growing numbers to the petrochemical
industry and agribusiness is a convoluted contortion of
               logic."
