Re: Uranium oxide as a catalyst for easily breaking dioxins and
Uranium Oxides have been a source of radionuclides in our local Charles River
here in Massachusetts. The radioactive elements were released during the
milling of uranium metal for antitank weapons and the subsequent incineration
of uranium wastes. (That's right, incineration of metalic waste.)
Presumeably the uranium oxides in a catalyst would be free of most
radioactivity and held in a fixed bed catalyst.
Of coure if other metals without radioactive trace components were available
there use would be greatly prefered.
