Re: Scientists Endorse Ozone Chemical Ban
This is all very nice, but there are some glaring problems.
CFC smuggling is the second most profitable illegal commodity into the US in
Miami (after cocaine).
Our "friends" at the Environmental Defense Fund and Natural Resources
Defense Council went along with a "linguistic detoxification" of many ozone
depletors in 1988, when numerous CFCs were renamed H-CFCs. (HCFCs are NOT
banned by the Montreal Protocol, and are still produced. They are several
times more harmful to the ozone layer than Dupont/EPA claim.)
The entire US stockpile of ozone eating methyl bromide is all made in
Arkansas, a reason why Clinton refuses to take action. It's also used by
agribusiness in Florida and California, whose campaign contributions were
sought by the same political hack president. Guess Al Gore forgot his words
of 1990, when he noted that it took 15 years to understand what we've done
to the ozone layer and that we didn't have 15 years to solve the problem.
Shameful that anyone concerned with the future continuation of stable
ultraviolet levels on Earth would vote for Clinton -- there's no difference
between methyl bromide promoted by Demicans and methyl bromide promoted by
Republicrats.
As Ronald Reagan might say, it's no skin off my nose.
Mark Robinowitz
PS -- Gore's complete inaction on the ozone layer disqualifies him
completely on any integrity that he might have once had regarding the future
of the biosphere.
