Ing. Ferdinand Engelbeen replied on your message from 10/02/96:
In The Netherlands one third of the E-filter ash of incinerators is mixed with asphalt. The total dioxin I-TEQ mixed this way with asphalt is around 300 g/year.
The total dioxin emission of one mixing installation was measured. When these emission figures are used to calculate the total emission of all asphalt mixing installations in The Netherlands, the total emission can be estimated to be 0.3 g I-TEQ/year.
The amount of fly ash released by wear out of the asphalt by traffic is calculated/estimated to be 0.6 g I-TEQ/year. This is widespread over all roads where this asphalt mix is used. That seems not to be an environmental or health problem.
