Alpena, Michigan is home to LaFarge cement, which converted to using
hazardous wastes (solvents, used motor oil, etc.) as a fuel source in the
mid 1980s, following the Republican deregulations. A young attorney named
Hillary Rodham Clinton served on their board of directors, making $30k per
year, until her husband ran for President.
So when the die-oxin industry mentions cement kilns as a source of
2,3,7,8-tcdd, you have to ask if they merely use natural gas / fossil fuel
or if the facility serves as a toilet for the chemical industry.
