Re: PVC White Paper
Mark:
Based on the discussions at this site, one could conlude that any country you
care to name is "authoritarian...(with) no democratic input into government
and corporate policies."
1) With respect to pipe, it seems impossible to name a material of
construction that does not involve generation of some dioxin in some
manufacturing step. Iron smelters? Cement kilns? Refineries and crackers?
Clay kilns? The issue must be addressed in a comparative fashion.
2) Since there has been some discussion of lead at this site, perhaps a few
facts are in line. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, only
if you had badly sun-weathered imported blinds, never dusted or cleaned,
licked by a child every day for at least a month could you achieve an
elevated lead level. Elevated lead is not good, but whats the likelihood?
In the US, about the only place lead compounds are used is to stabilize
electric power wire insulation because of the dielectric qualities, and if
children are sucking on them, there's a larger acute hazard afoot.
3) Butchers, Mark? We were Nazis before, and butchers now? Ridicule and
epithets distinguish those without a logical argument.
