Hi there!
I write in the belief that you will be interested in supporting an action
to place women's health at the top of the agendas of politicians,
governments and *WOMEN* everywhere!!*
We have chronicled past and present efforts by politicians and others to
initiate investigation into the health risks related to the use of
tampons.
So far, there has been no widespread, international effort to address
these issues. We want to change that, and we are asking for the help of
our sisters.
Please take a moment to visit the Terra Femme website and the pages
entitled the "Politics of Tampons." There you will find details of bills
sponsored by politicians (including the current "Women's Health and
Dioxin Act of 1996" Bill no. H.R. 3796), as well as action links and
activist-related suggestions.
We would especially like links to the "Politics of Tampons" page from
women-oriented sites, and for women to spread the word to others who may
want to support this work.
You may also want to want to read my personal profile in the Sept./Oct,
issue of Ms. magazine - Your Health section. A press release &
backgrounder are available; we welcome your questions and comments.
I look forward to hearing from you.
In health,
Willi Nolan
"Responsible public health officials have pointed out that the biological
effect of chemicals are cumulative over long periods of time, and that
the hazard to the individual may depend on the sum of the exposures
received throughout his lifetime. For these very reasons the danger is
easily ignored."
