Job announcement:
Tongass Conservation Society, a nonprofit conservation organization,
is seeking Environmental Health Information Project Coordinator
Applicants should have prior experience in grassroots organizing,
environmental health issues relating to pulp mills, and working with
the media. Duties will include:
1) Coordinating and/or preparing public presentations and workshops
relating to public health risks and pulp mill pollution. 2)
Coordinating community participation in State and Federal air and
water quality permitting public processes 3) Acting as spokesperson
for the project, including preparing media releases, paid advertising
and articles 4) Assisting in development of a community health survey
5) Assisting in writing grant proposals
Current funding available for a 6 month, full-time position. Position
may continue beyond that time depending on success of the project and
securing additional funding.
