RE: dioxin exposure through food
Please let me clarify MY position -- I said we should keep JUDGMENTS about
food choices out of the debate ( and thus calls for changes in diet) --
that is, I would hope we wouldn't refuse to work with cattle ranchers or
fishers because of our own dietary choices. Everyone has the right to do
what they want with the information. If learning about dioxin leads a
cattle rancher to choose to stop raising cattle and eating meat, taht
should be his/her choice. But I always hate to see someone lose their
livelihood through no fault of their own.
I guess you could say I'm "pro-choice" when it comes to food. I don't eat
meat but I don't think it's my place to tell someone else not to.
I would also ask you to remember some "words to live by" which I have heard
attributed to Lois Gibbs "IF you like everyone in the room, your coalition
isn't big enough."
