New Report Release

GLU, CBNS TO RELEASE NEW REPORT ON ELIMINATING
                        DIOXIN IN GREAT LAKES

Great Lakes United and the Center for the Biology of
Natural Systems are looking for grassroots and
environmental groups to help release a new report titled
"Zeroing Out Dioxin in the Great Lakes: Within Our Reach"
on Wednesday, June 26, 1996. The report, a culmination of
two years of research by CBNS, an environmental research
institute of Queens College, NY, identifies the origins of
dioxins entering the Great Lakes and the economic
feasibility of eliminating them. The report demonstrates
that the major sources of dioxin in the Great Lakes can be
replaced with little or no loss in economic activity or
jobs - and even with possible gains.

GLU is coordinating the release of the report throughout
the Great Lakes basin, and is looking for groups interested
in releasing the report in their own community. We will
provide you with a copy of the report, an executive summary
entitled "Dioxin Fallout in the Great Lakes: Where It Comes
From; How to Prevent It; At What Cost" and a sample press
release that you can modify to fit your local situation.
To participate in the basin-wide release contact: Scott
Sederstrom, Great Lakes United, (313) 998-0760 or via email
at <sederstrom@igc.apc.org>.

Industry representatives, consultants, or those not
affiliated with the effort to stop dioxin releases by
advocating preventive approaches need not apply for advance
copies.
