Landfill "flares"
At many landfills, "flares" are conducted on a regular basis to burn off
the methane that gathers when waste decomposes. We have had several
inquiries lately about the possibility of chlorinated gases contaminating
the "flare" and having dioxins form. Does anyone have any data about
"flares" and whether or not contaminants could lead to dioxin formation
during the process?
