West's Response to TAP
September 29th Posting on Multiple Internet Lists

The TAP Internet posting on multiple Internet lists of September 29, 1994
is wrong.

West Publishing Company has talked to the Department of Justice (DOJ)
and has been told that the DOJ, in fact, is conducting an informal
preliminary investigation into the entire computer-assisted legal
research (CALR) industry. West is fully cooperating.

Last week, I was contacted by a Department of Justice Anti-Trust
Division attorney and asked if I would submit to an interview.
I was told that DOJ was investigating "West Publishing Company".

This week, I was called back and told that the Anti-Trust Division was
conducting an investigation of the "on-line legal research industry."

So perhaps there are two investigations going on!
