I hope someone like Stephen Jay Gould prepares a big picture of where this 
type of inquisition has happened before when someone's power/money/habits 
were being jostled.

I also hope that the scientists who testify on behalf of science speak to 
the larger context of what they are in, and the psychological/economic 
space within which the instigators of the questioning are operating 
rather than just the science information and methodology.


I hope they speak to the consequences of turning away from the (sometimes) 
vexing answers one sometimes gets when asking the world how it operates 
(i.e., asking a question about the world).  The consequences for us as a 
nation, as a people.

I hope they speak to what it really is that some people/corporations are 
being afraid of.
