PAHs correction
In a previous post I referred to PAHs as a chlorine species.
Thanks Jeff for pointing this out.
PAHs (Polycyclic aromatic hdrocarbons) are generally not chlorinated,
at least the most common 'problem' ones are not.
They are a toxic output of pulp mills. I associate them with chlorine
chemistry but I am not a chemist.
In place of PAHs in that previous post, I might have better listed
HCl, Vinyl Chloride, chlorobenzenes, PCBs, chlorophenols, chloroethanes,
chloromethanes and chloropropanes. The original point was that changes
announced by industry where dioxin output has been reduced are often not
such good news when all changes are considered. This still holds.
