I don't know to what extent US paper-product manufacturers have responded.
I'm not sure where Seventh Generation and such distributors get the pulp
for their products. I know that there has been a proliferation in the
alternative markets,especially in reusable cloth pads, which I use and find
work great. THey also save money in the long run. Also there are cotton
tampons, of which I am highly suspect. Anything internal carries some risk
of toxic shock, but also the tampons I've seen do not claim to be organic,
so there could be all sorts of nasty pesticides from the cotton.
